CME on Gut Brain Axis - Are They Really in Talking Terms?

The Department of Physiology, SDM Medical College has conducted One Day CME on 24th June, 2023 on the theme “Gut Brain Axis – Are They Really in Talking Terms”. About 180 participants across Karnataka State have participated in the CME.
The CME was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Dr. Niranjan Kumar, Vice Chancellor of SDM University, Smt. Padmalatha Niranjan, Executive Director, Dr. S. K.  Joshi, Pro Vice Chancellor (Academics), Dr. Chidendra M. Shettar, Registrar, SDM University, Dr. Rathnamala M. Desai, Principal SDM Medical College.
The Chief Guest Dr. Niranjan Kumar addressed the gathering and told that:
•    Good education is the most powerful weapon.
•    SDM University will soon become a hub of Academic Excellence. 
•    Eating good balanced food is necessary to keep both gut & mind healthy.
•    Sharing our knowledge leads to multiplied by many beneficiaries.
The Guest of Honor, Dr. Rathnamala M. Desai, Principal, SDM Medical College told in her speech that:
•    The gut-brain axis consists of bidirectional communication between the central and the enteric nervous system.
•    The relationship between Guts and Brain is like mother and child.
•    Human being has more bacteria’s than cells.
The Eminent speakers from Neighboring Medical Colleges gave the expert talk during the CME.

Two former Heads of the Dept. of Physiology, Dr. Shobha C. Nallulwar and Dr. S. L. Karne were being felicitated. Both of them recalled their golden period of time which they spent with SDM Medical College. They told that SDM has given them Love, Affection and all Respect.

Dr. Vidya M. Nadiger, Professor and the Organizing Secretary welcomed the Guests. Mr. Shashank and Ms. Trisha compered the program and Mr. Amogh invoke the blessings. Dr. Nagalakshmi V., Prof. & Head and the Organizing Chairman proposed the Vote of Thanks
