Collection Organization

Books and other non-serial publications have been classified by using the Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) scheme and arranged on the shelves according to class number. While the medical textbooks and reference textbooks are arranged together on the shelves, dissertations, bound backfiles of the journals, WHO Publications, non-medical books, and books in the Kannada language are arranged in separate sections. Shelf guides have been provided at the beginning of each row to assist the users to locate books easily.

Current journals are displayed subject-wise. An alphabetical list of current journals along with their placement number is maintained and made available in the ‘Journals Section’. The list helps the users to locate easily the required journals. The CDs and DVDs are arranged serial number-wise in the CD rack which is placed at the Stack entrance.
