Fertility Centre
SDM Medical College Hospital has been providing treatment for infertile couples in the department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology since 2003. Every month on an average about 500 couples seek consultation for treatment of infertility at our centre. As we were providing basic fertility treatment for a large number of couples, there was a demand from the public for an advanced fertility treatment centre.
On 15th September 2016 “SDM Fertility Centre” was inaugurated, which is a specialized centre dedicated for the treatment of infertile couples. The SDM Fertility Centre has a large built up area of 4000 square feet with modern infrastructure such as the Ultra sterile modular high tech Embryology lab with laminar flow, the Andrology lab, Modern Operation theatre, USG room, Cryo-storage room, Consultation rooms and Counseling rooms. The SDM Fertility Centre is equipped with modern equipments such as the Inverted Microscope, Binocular and Tri-ocular Microscope, CO2 Incubators, Centrifuges, Ultrasound machine, Cryo-storage canisters etc.
This centre provides complete services for the infertile couple from consultation and counseling to the most advanced and specialized treatment for infertility. The various services provided by SDM Fertility Centre includes IUI, IVF, ICSI, Sperm donation, Ovum donation, Embryo donation and Surrogacy. The treatment modalities for male infertility such as IUI, TESA, PESA, and MESA are also provided.
The SDM Fertility Centre aims to provide patient friendly, technologically advanced highly specialized but affordable treatment for the people of North Karnataka. The SDM Fertility Centre has received technological support from Manipal Assisted Reproductive Centre, Manipal University, Manipal.
The team will is lead by Dr. Rathnamala M. Desai Professor and Head of Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Dr. Satish Adiga is the Consultant Embryologist. We have three Gynaecologists specially trained in infertility from reputed centres - Dr. Vinuta Kulkarni, Dr. Nishtha A. Mahabalshetti and Dr. Roopa B S.
