Dr. Prashant B.Mukkannavar, Professor, SDM College of Physiotherapy won "Best Research Award in Sports" at the 3rd International Conference on Sports injuries and Rehabilitation held in Bangalore on 8^th& 9^th June 2019.
Dr. Prashant Mukkannavar, Professor invited as a resource person for workshop on Research Methodology held from 29^th to 31^st March 2019 at MGM’s Institute of Physiotherapy, Aurangabad.
A seminar on Sports injuries (Prediction & Video analysis) by Mr. Arun Harikrishna, MPT (Orthopedic and Sports) & Chief Physiotherapist in Physioflex clinic was conducted for PGs & Interns on Monday, 22nd April 2019 @ 3:45 pm at Physiotherapy College.
Dr. Sangeeta Appannavar, Assistant Professor attended 6^th Annual Conference of IAP Neurology Karnataka Chapter in Association with IAP Karnataka State Branch & IAP– BPS held on 30^th& 31^st March 2019 in Bangalore.(link: https://scholar.google.co.in/citations?user=qSJHRO8AAAAJ&hl=en).
Dr. Salima Bijapuri, Associate Professor and 07 MPT students, 04 Interns have conducted one day free Screening and Awareness Camp on ‘Diabetes and prevention of its complications - Physiotherapy role’ on 17^th July 2019 from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm at Engineer’s hall near DC Compound, Dharwad in association with the Premier Senior Citizen Club, Dharwad.
Dr. Shweta Kulkarni, Associate Professor has participated as delegate in the two day workshop on ‘Biomedical Communication’ held on 1^st& 2^nd July 2019 conducted by Dept. of Community Medicine SDMCMSH, Dharwad.
Dr. Sanjay T. Parmar, Vice Principal participated in scientific research paper presentation & judged the research paper in National Physiotherapy Conclave, Mumbai at AYUSH Expo & Aarogya held on 24^th August 2019 at Mumbai.
On the occasion of World Physiotherapy Day free Physiotherapy screening cum awareness camp for prevention and rehabilitation of complications of diabetes was conducted on 07.09.2019 at Institution for Studies on Agriculture & Rural Development (ISARD), Dharwad.
On the occasion of World Physiotherapy Day an awareness session on women’s health was conducted on 07.09.2019 at Pavan Central Public School,Dharwad.
Induction Programme of BPT & MPT 2019-20 Batch students was held on 16^thSeptember 2019.
Dr. Salima Bijapuri, Associate Professor was invited as Guest Speaker to deliver lecture on the topic “Role of Physiotherapy in Women’s Health” at Women Entrepreneur Exhibition organized by Inner wheel club at Hebsur Bhavan, Hubli on 20/09/2019. Approximately 150 women attended and expressed their interest to consult Physiotherapy Department at SDMCMSH for more information.
On the occasion of International Day for Older Persons the Physiotherapy Awareness Camp regarding prevention of falls in elderly & importance of physical exercises & life style changes for a better quality of life was conducted at Sarvodaya old age home, a unit of Mahishi Trust, Saraswatpur, Dharwad on 1^st October 2019.
Dr. Sanjay T. Parmar, Vice Principal represented Physiotherapy profession in allied and health care bill – 2018 in front of Rajyasabha standing committee, health & family welfare department related, New Delhi on 11/10/2019. This was regarded to Central Physiotherapy Council of India.
Ms. Kavisha Manoj Mehta, student of MSc. Rehabilitation Sciences, University of Manitoba, Canada (An alumni of SDM College of Physiotherapy, Dharwad) visited for data collection in Paediatric Physiotherapy under the guidance of Dr. Sanjay Parmar from 24^th September 2019 to 26^th October 2019.
Dr. Sanjay T. Parmar, Vice Principal participated as Faculty and as Judge for Paper Presentation at National Conference of Commonwealth for Health and Disability, India – 2019 (COMHAD) held on 23^rd & 24^th November 2019 at D. Y. Patil Medical College, Kolhapur.
Dr. Shweta Bhatbolan, Assistant Professor invited as Guest Speaker for Swasthya Sambhrama a weekly program series organized by Paramahamsa Yoga Peetha, Dharwad on 30^th November 2019.
Dr. Pooja Kesharwani, Associate Professor, attended the Workshop on “Critical Thinking for the Critically Ill”, Physical Therapy Interventions in the Intensive Care Unit and beyond, held on 7^th& 8^th December 2019, conducted by the Department of Physiotherapy, Manipal Hospital, Bangalore.
Dr. Salima Bijapuri, Associate Professor and 03 MPT I year students, 07 Interns and 13 BPT final year students have conducted one day free Screening and Awareness Camp on 'Diabetes and prevention of its complications-Physiotherapy role' in association with the Rotary Club, Navanagar on 8^thJune 2019 at Navanagar, Hubli.
Dr. Sanjay T. Parmar, Vice Principal updated his citation and has 25 citations with h-index of 03.
Dr. Sangeeta Appannavar, Assistant Professor has completed six months Fellowship in Cardiac Rehabilitation course conducted by Medvarsity, Hyderabad on 28^th March 2019.
Dr. Parmar Sanjay Tejraj, Professor has successfully completed Post- Doctoral Fellowship from the University of Manitoba, Canada on 25^th October 2018.
Eleven students of BPT 2012-13 batch have secured total 26 subject-wise ranks declared by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore for the Convocation 2018. Ms. Mehta Kavisha Manoj has secured 05 ranks, Ms. Pai Sheetal Vivek has secured 04 ranks, Ms. U P Sreedevi, Ms. Dixit Sharmishtha Rajendra, Ms. Kadam Yogita Vasant have secured 03 ranks each, Ms. Fairozabegam Mulgund, Ms. Nagaratna Huliyal have secured 02 ranks each and Ms. Sushmita G. Sangolli, Ms. Saba Naaz Shaikh, Ms. Suman Jain N, Ms. Anupama Jayadev Harihar have secured one rank each in the various subjects of Bachelor of Physiotherapy course.
Dr. Sudhir Bhatbolan, Assistant Professor has secured the Second prize in Shuttle Badminton in “Inter SDM & JSS Tournaments for Teaching & Non Teaching staff” conducted by SDM College of Dental Sciences, Dharwad on 10^th February 2018.
Dr. Sanjay Parmar, Professor participated as resource person and awarded with Best Pediatric Physiotherapist in the first International Physiotherapy Conference, AQUACON 2017 held at Neelam’s Grand, Calangute - Goa on 27^th & 28^th May 2017.

The following staff won award and prizes at 52^nd Annual Conference of Indian Association of Physiotherapists held from 14^th to 16^th February, 2014 at Anand Mohan Mathur Auditorium in Indore (MP).

Dr. Sanjay T Parmar was conferred the ‘Significant Contribution Award’ by the Central Committee of Indian Association of Physiotherapists for his contribution to the field of Physiotherapy in India.
Dr. Pramod Kshirsagar won FIRST prize for paper presentation for paper titled ‘Comparison of the transverse abdominis and lumbar multiple muscles thickness by rehabilitation ultrasound imaging in single level lumbar disectomy patients’.
Dr. Prashant Mukkannavar won SECOND prize for paper presentation for paper titled ‘Pelvic girdle pain during pregnancy and postpartum – A prospective cohort study of prevalence and risk factors’.

Following students secured medals in RGUHS 19th Inter Collegiate Athletic Championship held from 12th to 14th November 2018 & selected to represent RGUHS in the 79th All India Inter University Men & Women Athletic Championship 2018-19

  - Second place - Discuss throw, Long Jump & Javelin throw
Mr. Kerkar Niraj Chandrakant, BPT III year and Ms. Naik Devata Uday, BPT II year have been selected to represent RGUHS in the 79^th All India Inter University Men & Women Athletic Championship 2018-19 will be held at Alva’s College, Moodbidri organized by Mangalore University, Mangalore from 24^th to 28^th November 2018.
Around 50 students (UG, PG and Interns) have taken part in the 'Hubballi Half Marathon' organized by Hubballi Fitness Club held on 18^th November 2018 (40 students participated as volunteers). Ms. Ramchandani Priyanka Prakash, BPT Final year has completed 21 kms.
The 'Shields & Certificates' (Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade Pattabhisheka Award-2018) awarded to our students (09 nos.) for securing RGUHS ranks in BPT university examination from Shri Kshetra Dharmasthala.
Mr. K. Meheboob Shiek, BPT Final Year has been awarded the Sports Merit Scholarship for his achievement in All India Inter University Athletic Championship & South Zone Inter University Cricket Tournament for the year 2017-18 on 27^th October 2018.
Students won Runner up trophy in the RGUHS Belgaum Zone Cricket Tournament 2018-19 held at J. J. M. Medical College, Davangere from 25^th to 28^th September 2018.
Ms. Naik Devata Uday, BPT II year student has participated in the 6^th Senior National Dueball Championship for Men & Women 2018 held at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Una, Himachal Pradesh from 25^th to 27^th June 2018 organized by Himachal Pradesh Dueball Association and Una District Dueball Association.
Students team participated in RGUHS Belgaum Zone Volleyball & Throwball (Men) Tournament 2018-19 held from 29^th to 31^st August 2018 at S. S. Institute of Medical Sciences, Davangere.
Mr. K. Meheboob Sheik, BPT IV year student has been selected to represent RGUHS in South Zone Inter University Cricket tournament 2017-18 to be held at Andhra University, Guntur (Andhra Pradesh) from 3^rd to 12^th January 2018.

Ms. Shifa Bagban, BPT Final year student received the Second prize at our Republic Day celebration held on 26^th January 2018 for creating Collage on the topic of “Rights of People living with HIV/AIDS” held on 1^st December 2017 organized by the Department of Community Medicine.
Mr. Niraj Kerkar, BPT I year student (2016-17 batch) has secured the fourth place in RGUHS Inter Collegiate Single Zonal Cross Country Race (M) held at BMCH & RC Chitradurga on 01.08.2017.
Mr. OmkarDeshpande, BPT III year student has secured Four Gold Medals, Eight Silver Medals in RGUHS Single Zone Inter Collegiate Aquatic Championship held at Mandya Institute of Medical Sciences (MIMS), Mandya on22^nd August 2017.
Mr. Niraj Kerkar, BPT II year student has secured Gold Medal in 800 Mts running, Silver Medal in 400 Mts running, and Bronze Medal in 200 Mts running and Ms. Devata Naik, BPT II year student has secured Gold Medals in 400 Mtr Hurdles and Javelin Throw, Silver Medals in Long jump and 100 Mtr Hurdles in the RGUHS Inter Collegiate 18^th Athletic Championship held at Alva’s Education Foundation, Moodbidri from 21st to 23^rdNovember 2017.
Around 45 students (Final year BPT, PG’s and Interns) have taken part in the 'Hubballi Half Marathon' organized by Hubballi Fitness Club held on 19^th November 2017 (15 students as participants and other students as volunteers).
Mr. Niraj Kerkar, BPT II year has represented the RGUHS in All India Inter University Athletics Championship – 2017-18 held at Acharya Nagarjuna University, Guntur (Andhra Pradesh) on 16^th December 2017.
Ms. Nivedita Kadambi, MPT I year student won I Prize in the PG Research Platform Presentation and Ms. Deidree Rodrigues, MPT II year student won III Prize in PG Poster Presentation at National Physiotherapy Conference - “Physio Accord 2014” held on 17^th and 18^th January 2014 in Bangalore.
Ms. Shree Mannari, BPT - IV year student won I prize and Ms. Navami Upadhyaya, BPT - I year student won II prize in state level singing competition held in Hubli organized by Akhila Bharath Madhva Mandal and Dr. Gangubai Hangal Music Foundation.
Mr. Mantosh Kumar Singh, BPT – IV year student has ranked 1^st Place in Asian Level Taekwondo Championship organized by Asian Taekwondo Union held from 5^th January 2014 in Thailand.

Ms. Ekta Desai (Final year BPT) student of our College participated in RGUHS Basketball (Women) selection trials held at M.S. Ramaiah Medical College, Bangalore from 30^th October to 2^nd November 2010. She wasselected for RGUHS Inter University Basket Ball team and attended coaching camp at M.S. Ramaiah Medical College, Bangalore from 10^th to 12 November 2010.Further she participated in Inter University Basket Ball tournament held at Ajmer (Rajasthan).She has been selected for RGUHS Inter University Basketball (Women) team since last three year.
Mr. Shashank S. Hullatti Intern was selected to represent our college in RGUHS Inter Collegiate Annual Athletic Meet 2010-11 held at Alva’s Education Foundation, Moodbidri from 01^st to 05^th November 2010. Mr. Shashank secured 5^th place in 5000mts running.
Graduation Ceremony was held along with Medical College on 20^th January 2012.Ms. Juhie Patel was conferred upon “Smt Surpiya and Shri. Harshendra Kumar Gold Medal” for the “Best Out Going Student – BPT”.

Activities

Dr. Salima Bijapuri, Associate Professor attended a workshop on Awareness of Functioning, Disability & Health ( ICF) organized by Department of Community Medicine, SDMCMSH in coordination with the Regional Office for Health & Family Welfare held on 7^th March 2019 at 2:30 pm at Lecture hall 5, Medical College.

Ms. Kalpitha N, BPT III year participated in RGUHS State Level Chess Competition from 14^th to 16^th February 2019 at Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Medical College, Bangalore
Our students team participated in RGUHS State Level Volley ball Tournament 2019 held from 10^th to 15^th March 2019 at KVG Medical College, Sullia.
Children’s Day was celebrated in the Paediatric Physiotherapy OPD on 14^th November 2018 from 10 am to 1 pm. Around 40 children along with their parents attended the event. Children participated in the fancy dress event arranged in the OPD. Parents also shared the experiences of their child’s treatment. Gifts and sweets were distributed to the children.
Raas Garba Nights 2018 was held on 27^th October 2018 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, organized by our college students at Physiotherapy College.
On the occasion of World Physiotherapy Day 2018, a free Physiotherapy consultation and treatment camp was conducted on 7^th September 2018 at SDM Poly clinic, Vidyanagar, Hubli from 9.00 am to 2.00 pm.
On the occasion of World Physiotherapy Day 2018, Poster Presentation on the theme "Crucial contributions of the Physiotherapy Profession to keep people independent and mobile" was arranged on 8^th September 2018. Poster Presentation was inaugurated by Medical Director Dr. Niranjan Kumar. Smt. Padmalatha Niranjan, Mr. Saketh Shetty, Dr. Satyashankar, Dr. S.K. Deshpande , Dr. Sunil K M, Dr. Kiran Hegde, Dr. Nithin Marathe, Dr. Mayur Sherkhane, Shri V.G.Prabhu and Physiotherapy Staff and Students were present.
The certificate distribution ceremony of Poster presentation arranged on the occasion of World Physiotherapy Day 2018 was held on 15^th September 2018 at 4:30 pm.
Dr. Sudhir Bhatbolan, Assistant Professor gave a radio talk for ‘SDM Doctor’ program on the topic ‘Bells palsy’ on 18^th September 2018.
Induction Programme of BPT & MPT 2018-19 Batch students was held on 26^th September 2018.
Dr. Shweta Kulkarni, Associate Professor and 06 UG students were felicitated for Blood Donation during Independence Day Celebration - 2018.
Dr. Shweta Bhatbolan, Assistant Professor, 2 MPT students, 4 Interns and 3 BPT final year students have conducted CBR camp for disability screening and assessment in association with NGO Operation Equip India, Hubli at Ingalgi village, Kundgol taluk on 23^rd August 2018. Total 227 children were assessed for any abnormalities and disabilities in 6 Anganwadis.
Art of Living YES!+ workshop (Youth Empowerment and Skills Workshop) follow up and meet with the students was conducted by Ms. Eesha Buwa, Faculty of Art of Living on 18^th August 2018 from 5.00 pm to 7.00 pm.
Dr. Salima Bijapuri, Associate Professor, 1 MPT student, 15 Interns and 2 BPT final year students have conducted an awareness and treatment camp for the elderly at Anand Ashram, Salakinkoppa village, Dharwad on 4^th August 2018. Total 32 oldage people were assessed and given talk on prevention of falls and care to be taken in the oldage.
The 1^st Alumni Meet of SDMCPT was organized on 14^th & 15^th July 2018. The inaugural function was held on 14^th July 2018 at 10.00 am at Ishaavaasyam auditorium. Dr. Niranjan Kumar, Medical Director, SDMCMSH was the Chief Guest and Smt. Padmalatha Niranjan, Executive Director, SDMCMSH was the Guest of Honour. Principal, Vice Principals, DMS, AMS, FD, Dy. Director (Purchase) and HOD’s of the various departments of SDMCMSH were attended the function. A Felicitation Program for Teaching and Non-Teaching staff who were working since 1996 in the college and a Career Guidance lecture for UG, PG students and Interns were arranged. On 15^th July 2018 various cultural programs and photo sessions were arranged. Dr. Rajeev K Lal, Professor and Dr. Amit Hosur, Alumni were the organizing secretaries of the 1^st Alumni Meet. Total 63 Alumni were attended.
Dr. Pooja Kesharwani, Assistant Professor & Dr. Sangeeta Appannavar, Assistant Professor attended Sensitization / Orientation Program of SDMNH Cardiac Rehabilitation Program organized by SDM Narayan Heart Center held on 17^th July 2018 at 11.00 am at Board Room, SDM Speciality Hospital (Manjushree Block).
Dr. Salima Bijapuri, Associate Professor, 3 Interns and 15 BPT final year students have conducted CBR camp for disability screening and assessment in association with NGO Operation Equip India, Hubli at Pashupatihal village, Tq- Kundgol on 24^th July 2018. Total 150 children were assessed for any abnormalities and disabilities in 5 Anganwadis.
Dr. Salima Bijapuri, Associate Professor and 02 MPT I year students and 11 BPT final year students have conducted CBR camp for disability screening and assessment in association with NGO Operation Equip India, Hubli at Haliyal village, Hubli on 11^th June 2018. Total 30 children and 28 pregnant women were screened. Antenatal & Postnatal awareness talk was given to the pregnant women by the staff.
Dr. Shweta Bhatbolan, Assistant Professor and 02 MPT students and 17 BPT final year students have conducted CBR camp for disability screening and assessment in association with NGO Operation Equip India, Hubli at Kuruvinakoppa village, Kalagatagi on 21^st June 2018. Total 135 children were screened for growth nourishment and disability in 3 Anganwadis.
Dr. Salima Bijapuri, Associate Professor & Ms. Patel Sejalben Navinchandra, MPT I year student have conducted ‘Audio Visual presentation and data collection on Industrial ergonomics awareness’ for the staff of Akshaya Patra, Food Processing Industry, Raipur (Vegetable cutting section) on 23^rd June 2018.
Staff and Students have participated in the International Yoga Day Celebration held on 21^st June 2018 at 7.30 am at SDM College of Dental Sciences & Hospital grounds.
The Annual Cultural Fest & Sports week ‘VERVE 2018’ was conducted from 16^thto 24^th May 2018.
BPT Interns & MPT II year students have sent their profiles online and attended telephonic interview for placement conducted by Health Care at Home (HCAH), a leading home healthcare service provider in India.
Dr. Sudhir Bhatbolan, Assistant Professor participated in the RGUHS State level Shuttle Badminton Tournament 2017-18 at J J M Medical College, Davangere on 25^th & 26^th April 2018.
Dr. Sharmila Dudhani, Associate Professor delivered Clinical Lecture on the topic “Cervical Muscles Retraining for Neck” on 17^th February 2018 at 8.30 am at DRH auditorium.
Dr. Salima Bijapuri, Associate Professor and Ms. Sejal, MPT I year student & 3 Interns (Ms. Subodhini, Ms. Roma, Ms. Pranali) visited to Akshaya Patra, Food Processing Industry, Raipur to observe the working posture of the employees on 28^th February 2018 as a part of Education Industrial Visit.
On the occasion of World Physiotherapy Day, Dr. Salima Bijapuri, Assistant Professor and BPT/ MPT students and Interns have conducted “Screening and Awareness Camp on the risk factors and prevention of falls in the elderly people” of the community in association with the Rotary Club, Navanagar and Veershaiva Samaj Samiti Sanghatan on 9^th September 2017 from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm at Navanagar, Hubli. More than 50 elderly people were attended and extremely benefited from the camp.
One day free Physiotherapy treatment, Assessment & awareness Camp conducted on 24.01.2017 at RHTC Yadawad. Dr. Salima Bijapuri, Assistant Professor, PGs, Interns & IV year BPT students deputed to conduct the camp and give Physiotherapy awareness talk.
Dr. Salima Bijapuri, Assistant Professor and BPT final year students have deputed for CBR camp at Haliyal village on 4^th March 2017. A small lecture was arranged on ‘Women’s Day’ to create awareness about women hygiene and health issues and five disabled houses were visited and necessary changes and modifications were told.
Dr. Poornima P. S, Associate Professor and BPT final year students have deputed for CBR camp in association with NGO Operation Equip India, Hubli at Chabbi village on 7^th March 2017. More than 25 disabled people were assessed in the camp.
Dr. Sanjay Parmar, Professor and BPT/ MPT students and Interns have deputed for Paediatric Screening Camp at Special School for Mentally Retarded Children, Nekar Nagar, Old Hubli on 3^rd March 2017. Different Physiotherapy related problems were assessed and also conducted an awareness and screening camp for teachers.
Dr. Poornima P.S, Associate Professor and BPT/ MPT students have deputed for Paediatric Screening Camp at Kurdikeri and Karadikoppa villages near Varur, Hubli on 1^st April 2017. 195 children were assessed at 3 Anganwadi’s of the villages.
Dr. Poornima P.S, Associate Professor, BPT, MPT students and Interns have deputed for Screening Camp for Anganwadi children at Kamdolli village near Hubli on 19^th June 2017. 260 school going children were screened.

Induction programme of the 17^th batch of BPT and 10^th batch of MPT students was held on 19^th October 2012 at DRH Auditorium of SDM College of Medical Sciences and Hospital, Manjushri Nagar, Dharwad.
A Blood donation camp was conducted on 6/9/2012 by the S.D.M. College of Physiotherapy in SDMCMS&H. The event was inaugurated by Dr. Ravi Savadatti in the presence of staff and students of the Physiotherapy College, who also participated by donating blood during the event.
